Codex and Grok

After this page you can register the packaged Bullswarm skill with Codex and Grok, read the awareness rule that lands in their instruction files, and check, reverse, or archive it.

What install writes

bash
# link the skill and append the awareness rule for every agent Bullswarm knows
bullswarm integrate install --yes

# the same, limited to Codex and Grok
bullswarm integrate install --yes --agents codex, grok
AgentSkill linkInstruction file
codex~/.codex/skills/bullswarm~/.codex/AGENTS.md
grok~/.grok/skills/bullswarm~/.grok/AGENTS.md
claude~/.claude/skills/bullswarm~/.claude/CLAUDE.md

The link targets the skill/ directory of the CLI that ran the install — the global package when you run the installed bullswarm, this checkout when you run node bin/bullswarm.js. integrate status --json prints it as skillSource.

Claude Code is in the table because one command covers all three; its own page is Claude Code. The skill is what the agent reads before delegating, and it appears as $bullswarm where a CLI uses that syntax (/bullswarm in Claude Code).

The awareness block

The instruction file receives only this block, between two markers:

<!-- bullswarm:begin v3 -->
## Bullswarm delegation

Read the `bullswarm` skill before delegating, offloading, verifying, or running autonomous multi-step work.
One bounded outcome -> `bullswarm run`; parallel territories, integration, or independent acceptance -> `bullswarm workflow goal` with a program you author.
Treat returned artifacts and verification as evidence, not authority.
Do not recurse when `BULLSWARM_DEPTH` is already set.
<!-- bullswarm:end -->

The markers make the region managed: a re-install replaces whatever sits between them instead of appending a second copy, and remove strips exactly that region. Every other line of your AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md is left as it was.

Options

FlagMeaningDefault
--yesapprove the write; without it the command prints pass --yes to approve and exits 1required for install, remove, retire-legacy
--agents codex, claude, grokrestrict the action to these agents; an unknown name is an errorall three
--jsonmachine-readable outputoff

install is idempotent: running it again reports no change. It refuses to replace a path that is not Bullswarm's own symlink.

Status

bash
# per-agent state: the skill link and the awareness rule
bullswarm integrate status
codex skill ✓; awareness ✓
claude skill ✓; awareness ✓
grok skill ✓; awareness ✓

Exit 0 means every selected agent has both. skill missing means nothing is linked yet; skill conflict means the path holds a real file or directory instead of Bullswarm's symlink — install refuses to replace it, and remove leaves it alone. The check resolves symlink chains to their real target, so a global install reached through npm link still reports installed.

--json adds skillSource, each agent's resolved target, and a legacyOffload block. status never needs --yes and is the default subcommand when none is given.

Remove

bash
# unlink the skill and strip the awareness rule, for Codex and Grok only
bullswarm integrate remove --yes --agents codex, grok

Remove touches only what install wrote: the symlink and the marked block. The instruction file itself stays — empty, if the block was all it held.

Retire the legacy offload skill

The pre-Bullswarm Claude skill was named offload. integrate status reports it when ~/.claude/skills/offload exists, and names the command that retires it:

bash
# move the retired offload skill into a dated archive — never deletes it
bullswarm integrate retire-legacy --yes

The directory is renamed to ~/.claude/skills-archive/offload-before-bullswarm-<timestamp>, so it can be restored by hand. With nothing to move, the command prints retired offload skill is not installed and exits 0.

Next steps

  • Claude Code — the skill, the MCP server, and the Mod in one session.
  • Getting started — install and complete one run before delegating anything.
  • Run one task — what the registered skill tells an agent to reach for.
